Yagyuu blinks when he sees the smaller Niou open the door for him, finding it unusual.

“Hello,” he says. “Where’s your brother?”

The youngest Niou points to a now empty spot and shrugs before running off to finish the rest of his cake. 

He leaves the door open for Yagyuu, however.

Yagyuu walks in, wary of his surroundings because who knows just what Niou was about to pull, right? Though he did think the cake that Niou’s brother was having looked pretty good.

Then he realized he hadn’t really eaten and was in fact, quite hungry.

Smiling, Niou’s mother cuts him a slice and hands it to him, practically shooing him up the stairs. “Make yourself at home, Yagyuu-kun! Masaharu’s in his room.”

“Thank you,” Yagyuu says as he smiles politely at Niou’s mother, being the gentleman that he is, and accepts the cake. He goes upstairs to Niou’s room, starting to eat the cake as he climbed up the stairs.

Unusually enough, Yagyuu was free on Niou’s birthday and had finished all of his schoolwork and all of the other things he had to attend to the night before. Perhaps it was boredom, or maybe it was how a part of him just wanted to get everything over with— he did not know. But at that moment, Yagyuu was already at Niou’s door and so he rang the doorbell, waiting for an answer.

Today, everyone let him get away with a little more than usual. He’d just finished blowing out the candles and was on his way to his room when the doorbell rings. Must be you-know-who.

 Niou Masaharu jerks his head towards the door, and watches with an amused smirk as his little brother dashes to open it.
